✨ New publication alert! ✨
We are thrilled to highlight the latest paper by Tim Hoffman, published in Surgical Endoscopy.
The study, titled “Real-time Quantification of Laser Speckle Contrast Imaging During Intestinal Laparoscopic Surgery: Successful Demonstration in a Porcine Intestinal Ischemia Model,” presents a cutting-edge advancement in laparoscopic surgery.
Together with Danique Heuvelings, Mahdi Al-Taher and others, they have successfully demonstrated the use of real-time quantification in laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI) to assess intestinal blood flow during laparoscopic procedures.
This innovative technique was tested in a preclinical ischemia model, relating laser speckle values to local lactate levels and showcases its potential to provide surgeons with immediate and accurate blood flow measurements.
The implementation of LSCI in the operating room promises to revolutionize how surgeons monitor tissue perfusion, potentially reducing complications and improving recovery times for patients. This paper is a next step forward in the integration of advanced imaging technologies into surgical practice.
Stay tuned to follow the impact of this remarkable development on the medical field. For more details, read the full study here: https://lnkd.in/eWbHkPAW.
